New year, new issue, new vicar for the benefice — and an old request.

Contributions to the magazine have been a little thin on the ground in recent months. While I’m always happy to fill the magazine and flatter my ego with my own photos and whatever else I can scrape together, I’d really like to see more people feel they can contribute.

*ShoreLine* has become a little utilitarian of late: most of our articles are in support of something, or advertising something. And that’s fine! That’s part of the role of a parish magazine. But, in the past, we’ve also played host to poetry, reflective writing and art, and I’d like to see that happen again.

## Community despite Facebook

Yes, some of the role of the parish mag has been consumed by Facebook, at least for day-to-day communication. But that’s not without its problems: it’s still relying on a single company, controlled by one man and dependent on algorithms.

So, here’s my appeal: please give thought to *anything* you can write or create that you’d like to share with the ever-changing community that attends our church. A parish mag should reflect all aspects of our congregation: fun and serious, reflective and exciting, spiritual and intellectual.

I’m more than happy to work with you to make your idea come to fruition. Just drop me a line.
